i made my own server
And here’s how. So i made my own server because why not and if you want to know how then read this blog post (oh by the way i typed this whole post before but then my stupid browser decided nope and i lost everything so thanks a lot opera) alright so for the operating system i choose fedora 43 server edition. I went to the fedora 43 server download page and downloaded the fedora install app.exe thingy. And for the computer that i am making into a server it is my moms old asus laptop which the cpu and gpu suck so much but the 2 most important things for a server the ram and storage are actually pretty good. (Yes fellow tech nerds i could have used Rufus instead of the fedora installer but why not) so then i got a usb stick put it into my computer and let the fedora installer do its thing. Once it was done i took the fedora usb out of my computer and put it into the asus and when i booted i held down esc to pull up boot options and selected boot from usb. Then followed the setup guide, once that finished it is just a black screen but at the top it has a web url that should look a little bit something like https://numbernumbernumber.numbernumbernumber.number.numbernumbernumber in my case 192.168.1.2cencoredforprivicy. And that url when you go to it it will be the fedora web server page where you can create virtual machines look at stats and more and for 75% of people that would be enough for them but for me i need more so. Alright speed run time, go to ChatGPT and say hey i have a fedora server and i want to setup nextcloud help my do that and then it will go through the process with you which for me was a little bit like (following made by ChatGPT) “With ChatGPT’s help, I set up my own Nextcloud server at home. We installed Apache, downloaded Nextcloud, set proper file permissions, and configured Apache to point to my server’s IP. After restarting the web server, I created my admin account, set up the data folder, and optionally added recommended apps. Now I can create other user accounts, and all my files are safely stored on my own server—accessible from my network or, with extra setup, from anywhere.” That is what ChatGPT said. so im still working on making it accessible from WiFi networks besides mine but when i do or if you come to my house or some crazy stuff the server is at https://bit.ly/hcoserver oh and yeah you do need a login so contact me with this form https://forms.gle/WCez4zmUnPjNrpmy7 um and if you noticed that it says “hco” not hudson that is because Hudson Co. is my company, we sell custom 3d items. Oh and if you want some sick pieces of plastic and a surprise for coming from my blog go to https://bit.ly/hudsoncofromblog. Yeah thats pretty much it. Alright bye
